MSNBC – NBC nightly news introduced the “Making a Difference” series a number of years ago, but to date there has been no other group of stories that has generated a larger response from viewers. Many of the stories come from viewers themselves: Someone in their community is going above and beyond the call of duty to help others and in response need to be recognized. There are many people around the country making a real difference in the lives of their neighbors and other community members in need….sometimes even complete strangers. Most do what they do quietly, without acknowledgement or award. One of these people is our very own Paige Jansen Nicols. I would like to encourage each of you to take a moment to submit a nomination for Paige. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/33805540/ns/nightly_news-making_a_difference/t/nominate-someone-be-featured-making-difference/

Below is my nomination story:

I would like to nominate a woman who has tirelessly created a beautiful, charming business aside from her successful full time career. Because of her decision to take on this commitment cancer is being confronted, head on, by a two time survivor that is determined to take the disease down with a fight. Paige Jansen Nicols has many characteristics which happen to include an incredible eye for beauty and design matched with a fierce drive to get what she wants, and what she wants happens to be a cure for cancer. She has intertwined a way to raise funds for cancer research with a talent for creating sought after pieces of jewelry. Her story involves a diagnosis of cancer, twice, mixed in with the beauty of antique, vintage materials she has collected from world travel, saving lives, getting involved, and lots of love. Paige has turned her talent as an artist into a vehicle that drives a successful designer jewelry brand that is not going unnoticed. She is gaining a nationwide following of fans that are collecting her jewelry knowing sales proceeds are going directly to cancer research and helping to make a change. Her determination has brought many stories and people into her life, from those who are battling cancer to Hollywood celebrities that believe in her mission. She is truly a woman making a difference.
