I was curious. If you could peek inside a celebrity’s jewelry box, whose would be the most interesting? Or which celebrity fiancé received the most expensive rock from her man? The style and extravagance of Hollywood can be seen dripping off the wrists, necks, and ears of its stars and celebrities. We thought it might be interesting to take a closer look at some of those beautiful jewels and find out the story behind the bling.
Don’t you love the anticipation of what you will see when you open a jewelry box? Most women collect jewelry over time that is trendy or sentimental, or just bought to match an outfit. We know that celebrities own vast amount of jewelry and accessories but the collection that drew the most attention lately was the auctioning off of Elizabeth Taylor’s 80 piece collection. The bidding broke records totaling $116 million, the new world record for the sale of a private jewelry collection. The bidding for a majority of items rose to three and four times their estimated value. Items from Cartier, Mouawad, Van Cleef & Arpels, Bulgari, JAR, Ruse, House of Taylor and last but not least, Tiffany & Co. were featured. The last piece offered was the exciting 33-carat Asscher-cut diamond ring that graced Elizabeth’s hand on a daily basis. This D-color, flawless diamond sold for $8.8 million.
Speaking of rings, when a celebrity goes all out on their engagement ring, the price tag can be flat out jaw-dropping. Donald Trump’s third wife, Melania Knauss, received a 12 carat emerald diamond set in platinum. Donald claimed that it was the most expensive engagement ring of all time, and he was right in 2004. But in 2007 Jay-Z “put a ring on it” that topped the charts. Beyonce’s ring set him back a reported five million dollars. Beyonce’s ring is an 18 carat diamond, rectangle shape and set in platinum.
Women aren’t the only celebs that like to shine. Hip-hop star Lil Jon officially owns the world’s largest diamond pendant, according to the Guinness Book of World Records. Teen sensation Justin Bieber proved that men can splurge by purchasing a necklace he designed himself with the help of a Beverly Hills jeweler. The $25,000 necklace is a replica of Stewie from Family Guy. The necklace is made of 14 karat gold with 12 carats of precious stones, diamonds and rubies.
For some celebrities, sporting their bling is a regular, daily habit. They wouldn’t dream of leaving home without their gleaming jewels. But for others it has become a way to make a statement. Many stars have started using their blinging abilities for a good cause. They create trends by looking beautiful and pushing the limits of fashion, and it keeps us intrigued, which gives them the power of influence to do more. Many entertainers have done photo shoots for special jewelry lines to raise money for various charities. Saint Vintage Jewelry has donated thousands of dollars to cancer research with the help of celebrity ambassadors and entertainers who help promote their brand and mission. Through celebrity endorsements Saint Vintage is able to raise funds for Stand Up to Cancer, an organization reliant on the good will of celebrities. Next time you see celebrities wearing the most glamorous and expensive accessories in the world, sometimes it is for a good cause. Below are a few famous faces that came out to support the Saint Vintage Love Tour last month:
